Griffon Yearbooks 1916-present
The Griffon is the yearbook of Missouri Western State University. The first Griffon was published in 1921 and MWSU continues the tradition to this day. From 1916-1920 MWSU, then known as St. Joseph Junior College, shared a yearbook with Central High School, and by 1921 The Griffon was born. The Griffon provides a crucial glimpse into the history of MWSU through the eyes of our students by documenting campus life, current events, athletics, and more.
The Griffon has been recognized for its quality and excellence on both a national and international level. Awards the publication has received include:
- Gold Crown and Silver Crown awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association
- Eska Frog Award
- Walsworth Gallery of Excellence
- All-American ratings from the Associated Collegiate Press
